The Evolution of FIFA: My Journey Through FIFA Game's History

Being a die-hard football fan, my passion for this beautiful sport is not only confined to the pitch but also extends to the virtual realm. From the very first moment I started playing FIFA, I was thrilled. The thrill of controlling my favorite teams and players and competing on a professional level has been electrifying. In this blog, I will take you on a personal tour through my FIFA journey and explore how this game has evolved from pixels to precision. If you are passionate about football as I am, hold tight for a flashback and a deep dive into the evolution of FIFA that has kept us all glued to the screen for hours.

Back to the Start: Simplicity and Nostalgia

Back then, FIFA was all about learning the basics. I spent hours on how to dribble, pass and score. My first FIFA franchise installation was "FIFA 09" in 2008. That time I was very excited by the fact that we could play football virtually on our computers and consoles. The game was refreshing, and there was something so pure about the game focused on getting the ball to the net. Back then, FIFA's gameplay was not as it is today. The graphics and mechanism of the game were basic and simple. But the enjoyment was pure. I still remember the "Wayne Rooney" cover photo of the franchise.

Each year, I eagerly wait for the game to be released with a new title. Every installation of this title was a leap forward like improved graphics, better player mechanisms or introduction to real-life stadiums.

The Era of Revolution: FIFA 12 to FIFA 17

Unlike any FIFA title, I expected FIFA 12 to be same as FIFA 11. But this time the publisher of the game exceeded our expectation." FIFA 12" was a massive global hit and got the "Sports Game of the Year 2011" award. The gameplay of this game felt almost real that I could feel the pitch, the crowd chants and I still can hear the poetic commentary of Martin Tyler and Alan Smith. "FIFA 12" first introduced actual tactical defending which they improved in their upcoming installment "FIFA 15". So we can say that "FIFA 15" was a complete football simulator with proper real-alike gameplay and the pitch was amazing.
EA Sports introduced a new game engine in 2016. They used their "Frostbite 3" engine to make players 3D model which is way better than previous installments of the franchise and  improve the whole graphical mechanism of the game. "Frostbite 3" is a game engine which was used in popular game franchise "Battlefield". So at that time "FIFA 17" was so hyped. That time I pre-ordered the game early and when it got released I was completely stunned. That time they literally added a game mode named "The Journey" where we can play as a character "Alex Hunter," a boy who got promoted to the professional league and continuing playing his career. This mode was so fun to play. I felt I was traveling throughout the world, scoring lots of goals, winning individual awards in my virtual football career. We can see from this video how "Frostbite 3" engine has made the game more realistic and playful.

The Ultimate Team: A new addiction

FIFA first introduced this game mode back in 2013 but it got less attention that time. Ultimate Team is a mode where we can make our own team and play against players from all around the world. We can earn game coins by playing matches and building sqauds by which we can buy better players and take our Ultimate team to the glory. I personally enjoy this mode the most and I have been playing the Ultimate Team from 2019.

I have spent more than 9000 hours playing this game mode, and I love this mode, it led me to meet many people through gaming. I regularly play this mode professionally and hoping to represent my country through e-sports.

Every year thousands of players and streamers regularly participate in FIFA e-sports activities. Competitive tournaments like FIFA e-world cup, e-nations cup, FGS series are held every year. Many football club like Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)Manchester City and FC Barcelona have their own e-sports divisions.

FIFA e-sports event and gameplay are widely streamed on platforms like YouTube and Twitch. Many content creators and professional players regularly make videos, stream, tutorials that are helpful for the FIFA community.

EA Sports lost their agreement with FIFA and now this franchise has a new name called "EA Sports FC' since 2023. and its first installment was "EA FC 24". I pretty much like this game as it has all the league licenses and the "Ultimate Team" game mode never left! Now this game's latest franchise "FC 25" will be released on September 27. I already pre-ordered it and can't wait to play!

From the beginnings of FIFA 09 to the realism of EAFC 24 my journey with this game has been hell of a ride. Each version of this game brings new memories, new challenges and objectives. As FIFA continues to evolve, I know I'll be there to kick off the ball and make more memories on the pitch.
